Coldwater macroalgae?

Bill would be a good source. Thinking about macro.. the more northern ones may take the temperature you've given, but may or may not thrive. Like many things, they seem to have a growing season. I consistently find macro more often and in larger sizes during spring and fall, as opposed to winter when that temperature might be more realistic.

Ulva, Gracilaria, Enteromorpha, Chaetomorpha aerea, Codium, and a number of others are candidates. Kelp, Laminaria, also of course comes to mind. :)

I've got a similar question. I am in the Puget Sound area (Seattle, WA) staying with my grandparents who live right on the water. Will any macros that I take from the sound and put in my tank survive? I ask this because when I find macros in really warm tidepools they arent dead so it would seem that I could put some in my tank.

The difference between a tidepool and your tank is relatively constant year round temps. Like Samala pointed out most if not all temperate species have a dormant season, they are adapted to live where they do which is why you dont find them everywhere.
