Colony infeastation control?

Okay recently there has been these ugly purple kind of transparent see through soft polyp that has taken over my tank. I want to get rid of them but they have grown everywere! If i take a rock that has a colony on it out of the water how long do i have to keep it out of the water for it to die? Thanks.

It's not how long you'll have to keep it out of the water for them to die as much as what you'll need to do to clean the rock and hazmat the smell out of your house after they do. One suggestion would be to remove any zoanthids you'd like to keep, go to your LFS and get some old junk zoanthids that have nudis on them, and then let them eat your palys over the next few months.
