Was wandering if someone could point me in the direction of getting the deep dark purple color back? Here is what I have, started off using power compact lights simple actinic and 10k and oceanic salt (GREAT DEAP PURPLE CORALINE) then over the years changed to T5 lighting and seachem salinity salt (CORALINE STARTED FADING to A LIGHTER PURPLE) then switched to Cree Led's and went to IO Reef crystals (CORALINE IS NOW A LIGHT PINK) salinity is 1.026 Ca 440 Alk 8 Just trying to get some thoughts on what actually changes the color of coraline, there is no problem with it growing its just not as dark a purple as it once was. And dont say go back to PC lighting and Oceanic salt.....lol just really wanting some input on what maybe controls the color of it.

I didn't know coralline algae could change color, except from its current color to white if its dying. I have 4-5 different colors of coralline algae and the deep purple your talking about appears to grow towards the bottom of my tank. I use 3W Cree LEDS with a ratio of 5:4 blues to whites.

Also with T5's I only saw a very light pink color coralline algae grow in my tank. Its only been since I started using LEDs that I noticed the different colors of coralline algae.
