Colt Coral and Bulb Anenome

Hi Fellow Reef Lovers,

I have been working on my 55 gallon Reef Aquarium for about 7 months.

I have two questions that have come up recently, and was hoping someone could help me with the answers. I havent been able to find the answers in books.

My Colt Coral (the first one I bought about six months ago) is suddenly withdrawn and smallish looking. It has always been the toughest coral ever...It has been propsering until the last month or so, since I moved. I moved the aquarium and the water, and creatures very carefully except it was a really cold night (so they got cold in the car, but were in an insualted cooler for about an hour, with their own water) and all the corals came back nicely except my sand polpyp was partially damagaged (a side of it died off) and the colt coral has never blossomed back out. However, the fish and all of the other corals look better than ever, my Calcium levels are stable (475) so is the Ph, (8.2), SG (1.021-22) nitrates, amonia, temp, water flow, all good, etc etc. Its ALL technically good. Even my fish have been doing better than ever (no casualties in months). Any ideas? I have moved it around a little to no avail. I have a 48" power compact Coralife Aqualife with metal halides (7 hr cycles) and 10K actnics. Power heads are great, etc etc. Adding reef buffer 2x week, Ca/Sr/Mg twice a week, and KH mix every other week. 15% water changes (pre-treated water) 1x month. Also, phyto 2-3 times a week (as always) But why suddenly is my Colt looking so frail?

Also, my aneomone (bulb) that I got a week ago for my clown fish has been moving all over since it came into the tank last week, but the last two days is not opened up like it was, it is withdrawn too and just laying in the sand. Any ideas? is it doomed?

Your input greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Donna,

The colt corals can be be finiky and will close up and not look good for days. It could be that the anemone stung it while floating around. It will come back, they are real hardy corals.
Theanemone is still new and it might take a fed days until it will open up again. They normally close up when they are moving about until they anchor themselves.
