"colt coral" question

I just got a rather large colt coral and someone said it was going to grow everywhere and sting my other corals... I have never heard of a soft coral "stinging" others first of all.. I have heard of them emitting a toxin but not "stinging" like a stony with larger polyps would do. is the colt going to harm surrounding corals?

I have tons of colt in my tank and they look amazing.. Never had a problem with them stinging other corals.. what happens is they grow faster than most other corals and will take up more space but not really sting to the death like an anenome or lps coral.. good luck and enjoy the new piece.

Why would you want to do that?? thats the beauty of owning a reef. if it frags on its own you can try and attach it somewhere else or sell the frags.. ive had mine for over a year now and it just seems to get thicker and fuller no frags yet...
