Combine broken Osmolator and Apex?

Enjoy

That's what she said....
I have a spare osmolator that has a broken controller. The pump, and float sensors are still in great shape.
Is it possible to hook the sensors and pump up to the Apex and use that to control the on/off function to keep the level consistant? Im assuming a breakout box is neccessary.

Has anyone done this before?

Yes, it should be possible. I believe the Osmolator uses a pressure switch to detect the water level. This will need to be hooked to a BreakOut Box or DIY Box to provide input to the Apex. Create a virtual outlet to monitor the level switch and a normal Outlet to control the pump. I recommend configuring the switch such that Open contacts perform the safest action, in the case of ATO that would be to remain OFF.

The float switch (used by the Osmolator as a safety backup switch) and brackets could probably be repurposed. But the primary sensor is an optical sensor (infrared I believe) which depends on electronics in the 5017 controller... it's not something that can just be connected to AC3/Apex switch inputs.

Frankly, I'd just see about getting a replacement 5017 controller.... contact Roger @ Tunze USA.
