Communication: Chat - PM - Email

I post to our forum as much as possible, I like to see it get more and more active. I'm just wondering what other electronic ways we can communicate with everyone more efficiently.

PM:
If a PM is sent to a group of people, can you reply to all? The only way I could find to do so is copy the usernames and paste them.

Chat:
Does anyone use chat programs? I use both Yahoo Messenger & AIM

Email:
Would email be a better means of communication over PM? I know I can at least reply to all much easier. :)

im on mafia wars, er facebook pretty often.

i dont typically keep a chat program running.

im on rc nearly as much as mafia w.., er facebook, so pm's are a valid option for me..

facebook, and we could easily create a group on there, email, and here are all good ways to reach me.

Ilike the fact of only communicating on RC because that forces us all to get on here, and makes a=our forum more lively. Just my opinion

Cool to have a facebook page, but Baldwin has a valid point also.
The "Less restricted" is also very interesting.

What is done, is done.
We can't say no to something we can't control.

We now have 2 forums - RC and Facebook
I guess I'm going to have to join Facebook.

I like the facebook if we keep it 'for information only' and keep most all discussion here. Same thing goes for the site Reggie talked about. Any ways of having people find us is welcome by me. Like Baldwin, I just hope we don't split our discussions over too many boards.

This si my main concern. It was nice if we could figure out a way to post on one site and it post on all our linked sites.

that would be tricky.

we talked some yesterday about moderatorability and other rc restrictions. the fb thing provides pretty much all of that.

you can say what you like about various vendors, provide links from non sponsors that sorta thing.. kick/ban/moderate things... it has a discussion board area... native support for pics n video.. [this groups is useless without pics n video]

Ok, I agree we need outsourced ideas, and we need to be able post links nonrelated to RC, but having the use of an outside party which doesn't know any of us is also valuable IMO, because their is no side taking. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of more freedom for other posts, it's something we need, I just want everybody to think about the good and the bad of another site/page.

I’m really not “techie” enough to understand all of the consequences. RC's really all I visit.
It does seem there’s a lot of talent in this club. I'll take y'alls advice on this.

Isn't this one of the very thing that started the whole mess with multiple sites and forums?

yes it is. among other things...

i think rc is the right place for the club to be centered. but fb has options that rc wont provide.

i dont think we 'need' those options, but they can be handy.

another difference i think is inclusiveness vs exclusiveness. but thats a whole other discussion. :bounce3:

We cannot moderate this forum on RC, that was mentioned. However, that was only stating fact not suggesting it is a problem. We can post deals that we find online, we can post deals we find local, we can post photos, and links to video.

If one person starts talking about one vendor all the time, then it will be frowned upon by RC because it appears like advertising. Since none of us own or work at a reef related business this shouldn't be a problem.

Yes, yes it is. That is why I'm okay with other sites used as pointers to here. We can post info on those sites about meeting dates or by-laws but keep all discussion here. We have low participation now and if we start splitting the discussion in multiple places it is a no win for anyone.

Do you have the option of turning off the wall or discussion part of the FB page? Just use it as a place to post info and links to RC?
