compact fluorescent bulbs sustaining SPS?

How long do you think I could sustain SPS with a shop fixture and a 100W compact flourescent bulb approx 5" above the holding tank. I am going to need to house my SPS's for roughly 1 to 2 weeks. The plan is to move my corals while I redo the aquascape, this will also allow them to be in quarantine as I don't want to transfer algae to the new system..

Thanks

i had a birdsnest live under my frag light for almost a month. i threw it in my sump thinking it was dead. i left it there to see how long it would live. it would have lived longer had i not threw a lot of cheato over top of it. my light is only 12 watts t5.

I have a few stylophora colonies on the sand bed of my biocube with the stock lighting and they are not only sustaining but actually growing extremely slowly also they have great polyp extension. I think you would be fine with that, you just may lose a good bit of color due to spectrum change.

There are a few things you could do to help them live longer also if you made sure they were getting good nutrition from feeding. While more difficult to do, corals are in nature, primarily predatory, so you should probably be ok if they are used to eating and not just photosynthesizing.

I have pink stylo, purple rimmed and orange monti absolutely flourishing in my PC-based nanocube (2x36 watts + 2 stunner strips as supplements).

I wouldn't put a clam or acros in there though...

Is there anyway to put your current tank lights over them while you redo scape? Since your basically rigging a shop fixture why not rig your current light or hood over them?

I Have not fed them in years, totally rely on my lighting. Im sure they
Get some food from the fish feeding. I have always fought algae and
Figured extra feeding would intensify the issue.
Hmm, forgot about my clams.......
