compact light wetdry

You might want to reconsider on putting a wet dry system on a reef. They are prone to drive nitrates up in a tank. They are good for fish only tanks where nitrates are not so much a concern, however, on a reef nitrates need to be maintained near 0ppm.

A good option might be a 20l tank made into a sump with multiple compartments to hold a refugium, a skimmer, and a return pump.

ive ran a wetd ry on my reef tanks for years with o problems but thanks for the info i think ill just go built one out of a ruber mate tote be cheaper and faster

wont cheato hold how the nitires?

Chaeto is a good choice for a refugium as you harvest you remove nutrients you do not want in your tank. I personally prefer it over caulerpa as it does not go sexual like caulerpa, and does not over run a tank given half a chance.

On the wet dry, many people do use them with success. But most find that they have some issues with the media becoming a nitrate factory as it breaks down the amonia to nitrite, and then on to nitrate, with there being process to eliminate the nitrate like you would have with a deep sand bed, nitrate reactor, refugium, etc.

I have a wet dry under my 90. Cost about $300, I have since stripped it down to a $300 20 gallon tank with a couple baffles. Save yourself the time and cash and buy a cheap 20 or 30 gallon.
