Compact skimmer

I'm looking for a compact, efficient skimmer for my soon-to-be 42x30x20 tank. I will be primarily focused on zoos, rics, and lps. I've been out of the hobby for 6 or so years and skimmer design and technology has changed quite a bit. Due to my stand logistics, I will be very limited in space for my skimmer. I will have no more than 11" inches front to back and want to go as narrow (side to side) as possible. I was looking at the AquaMaxx CO-1 and was very impressed. I'm also looking at the RO 1000LSS. Any opinions on these or maybe something else I'm not even thinking about? Budget limited to $350. It must be super super silent since its in the main living space. I'd also like it to have the ability to connect it to a waste container.

Thanks!

The AquaMaxx CO-1 looks a bit light in the SCFM pull, 360 LPH.
the "modified" Sicce would kind of throw me off too.

i've never run a RO 1000LSS, but cannot espouse enough kudos to CV's service.
it draws 540 LPH with the bubble blaster, which would be a easy pump to source and replace.

10" x 11" is a reasonable footprint. true dims are around 8" x 9".

i run a BM-180CS which pulls 500 LPH. its a bit dated by todays standard, uses a german aquabee pump, which can be hella hard to get parts/replacement pump for, but ive been diligent about maintenance and its been very trustworthy considering the extreme services we ask for in a skimmer....ive ran the same pump for 5+ years (had another aquabee beforehand, no issues), runs darn silent. love german pumps.

11" x 13" is a reasonable footprint. true dims are around 9" x 11".

i'd personally take a harder look at the SRO 1000LSS.

Good luck!

If you want quiet then the CO 1 can't be beat IMO. The shark (sicce 2.0) is even quieter than its sicce sk400 counterpart which is used on the omega 150 and some of the SSA skimmers.

I wouldn't be concerned with the lower air numbers the CO 1 pulls compared to its competition. It performs extremely well given its design.
