Compatibility: Mandarin vs. Target Dragonet

We are doing a 210 tank build and consolidating everything from our 92 gal, 45 gal, and frag tank.
See build thread for specifics:

Anyway....I have a question about fish compatibility: We have a Mandarin Dragonet in the 92 who is fat and happy and gets along with everybody (goby, tangs, clowns). He is my favorite fish and has so much personality! He thinks he is a total tough guy when he sees his reflection in the glass.
In the smaller tank we have a Target/green-ringed Dragonet. He is smaller than the Mandarin, but also fat, happy and agreeable although shy. I believe that both fish are males (the mandarin for sure).

So...in a 210 gallon mixed reef with lots of rock will these two fish be compatible? Or is there going to be a problem?

Thanks for your help!

Well.....I guess it is a good thing that I am a member of MARS! At least they respond to my questions!

Thanks anyway (those of you who at least read my question),

I will respond, but I don't have the answer...
I have the same question, though. I have a mandarin and would like to add a target to my 210. Good luck! Let me know how it goes!!!

Darcy,
Just saw your question. The answer is: when they see each other they will NOT be happy and likely fight. If they do not see each other things will be ok if you have sufficient copepods for both. I have this exact situation. Two males. The smaller hangs out on one side of the tank but gets in trouble when the larger one sees him. So the prognosis is a mixed one. They have, however, coexisted for at least six months so that may bring optimism to the situation. In my other tank I have a male and female who will occasionally mate (maybe more since I don't always notice at sunset)

Steve,

Thank you for the first hand experience! I am starting to think it may be worth trying....once the pod count is up!

You are welcome. You may enhance the situation if you aquascape with bommies (islands) so that each fish can somewhat have a territory.
