compatible angle with Emperor

I have a 265 gallon tank that I will be doing SPS corals in eventually, currently I have a 2.5" Emperor angel, Chocolate and Naso tang, Kole tang, 2 clowns and some chromis. There is plenty of room for one more fish in the tank and I would like to add a second colorful Angel fish. My fish of choice after the emperor would be a queen angel. Ive been trying to find anyone who has a tank with these two fish in it but haven't seen anything recent.

Anyone on here who has an emperor and a queen? My emperor is pretty fearless but is only aggressive towards the chromis.

I've seen queen and emperor together and you will be fine. Queen is different shape so emperor should leave it alone especially in that size tank. I've kept my emperor with many different angels and blueface and majestic he always bullys because of the similar shape.

Good luck.

I have a sub-adult Emperor angelfish, a Regal angelfish, a Bellus angelfish and a Flame angelfish in a 350 gallon tank with other inhabitants. The Emperor grunts at all of the other fish but that is the extent of any bad behavior. They all eat side by side.

Your best bet is to introduce another angel that is a bit bigger than the Emperor... and to use an acclimation box so you know if they will tolerate each other.

Emperor angles are too obtuse to mix with acute angle of any species.

Seriously, though, my Emperor angel grew so fast from a tiny juvenile to a large adult that he can't follow the other angels into their hiding places/escape routes. He lives with, bullies, and otherwise dominates a Majestic, a Cherub, and a Flame but he is not particularly fast and doesn't ever "get" them. They are smart enough to keep their distance.

Maybe this is something frowned upon, but does your emperor let you touch it ever when feeding or similar activities. I was reading a post where someone said their puffer fish was like a dog and they could pick it up and pet it, and then someone else had mentioned their angel let them pick it up if they wanted. My Emperor is like a cat with its curiosity, comes right to the top of the water when its feeding time and eats from my fingers. I have tried to "pet" its side and it let me a couple time but still is a little skittish if I don't have food in my hands.

I didn't expect to get attached to these fish but their personalities has really made me look at this hobby more as keeping pets than brainless decorations. I would say the Angel is much more intelligent than my Naso and chocolate tangs.

Anyhow I suppose I'm basically asking if you have ever tried this or if it is frowned upon to try in the first place, not sure if this would cause stress to the fish or confuse it to thinking I'm invading its territory

I don't think it's frowned upon to hand feed fish. putting hand in water is not recommended for coral tank. I'd suggest wearing gloves so you don't get lotion and stuff into the tank. anemones and other corals can sting your hand if you have open wounds.

definitely do it little by little so you don't freak your fish out on first try. i can hand feed my Triggers and my rabbit fish. Some fish are just more chill than others. my tank is about 10ft long and some would follow me around the tank as I walk around.. last time I got bite by my maroon clownfish and got a huge cut. so know your fish

I have a Goldflake Angel and a Regal. hoping to pick up a Queen and Blueline before I get a small Emperor

My Emperor is not afraid of my hand. I can touch it but I've never tried to pick it up. It doesn't alarm it to stroke it lightly.

Mine is letting me somewhat kind of touch/pet it a little when its feeding time, although I know it is basically letting me do it because it knows there is food on the way. I find the Emperor definitely is more intelligent and friendlier than any of my tangs. I had no intentions of picking it up though.

I imagine full grown they have powerful jaws, has it ever nibbled or pecked at you? My chromis and clowns will attack me if I'm not watching out for them
