Invert Sexy Time!
Hi all,

I have a 12g nano I'm starting up and really love the odder creatures. The only fish I really plan on putting in it is a small shrimp goby with pistol partner.

So since I want a mostly invert and odd creature tank I'm trying to get an idea for what sort of species will play nice with each other and how many of what I can get away with putting in there.

The tank has a lot of rockwork. Almost the entire bottom is my 2 base rocks with a tiny sandy area. Rock work sort of scales up and forms some top bridges.

The goal is corals of a mixed variety and some snazzy inverts to do their thing.

Right now I'm at the end of my cycle and have a few scarlet and blue legged hermits in there and a few narc. snails. I will possibly remove a snail and hermir or two as I add other things that do their same job.

So I'm thinking a few sexy shrimp, porcelin crab or two (once my DSB and general micro critters and plants can support them), a large feather duster/coco worm, shrimp goby and partner pistol. After that I'm sort of stuck on other odd things I can put in.

I'm looking for suggestions and any info on the things I already mentioned regarding them not being a good choice.

Thanks!

(p.s. I would just like to note that I blame harlequin shrimp for being so cool getting me sucked into starting a tank. That's what I get for buying one as a bday present for my brother. No, I will not be putting harlies in, not anytime soon at least, can't afford the time or money to care for em)

Porcelain crabs (the Petrolisthes spp.) are my absolute favorite crab species. They are great little crab, and very peaceful. Although they will filterfeed, they will also take pieces of tasty meaty food right from forceps, so they are a bit easier to feed than a strict filter feeder.

Oh sweet I didn't know they would eat other things besides what they filter. That makes it even easier.

Whats the word on coral banded shrimp and other inverts? I've read about not putting 2 of them in the same tank as they fight, but it seems vague on if they get along with other shrimp and invert species. Would they attack/kill cleaner or sexy shrimp, or other things like crabs, feather dusters, etc

Most Coral banded shrimp will get too large and aggressive for your tank, but the ones with the blue thorax stay small, about an inch long. The do hide however.

Pom Pom Crab.

Periclemines or Holthius shrimp
