Conch ID

I have a rather unusual hitchhiker which I believe to be a type of conch that I have had for about 2 years now. When I found it it was about the size of a lima bean and now it is about 2" across.

It is a carnivore as it loves astrea snails

Can someone try to ID this for me.

That is a awesome predatory snail! Maybe a predatory whelk?

damn cool, hope you can make it happy for a long time, and nice job on making him seem so healthy.

Thanks for the reply venwu225

It sure looks like you may have found what it is. The hairy covering on the shell is what had me a bit confused as it does appear to be part of the shell's growth and not an algae.
