Condylactis Care/Acclimation

there are two main types of e. quadricolor according to fautin and allen? anyway, there is a colonial version that tends to stay smaller and split. they live in shallower waters. then there is the deep water specimen that lives solitarily and grows to a much larger size. i beleive those reproduce by external fertilization.
fwiw: My experience with captive specimens does not support the "versions" theory, but differing enviromental conditions triggering divisions; or not.

If someone can find a research paper or journal supporting the two different "versions" of E. quadricolor, please link it. Something like this study on H. magnifica would be nice:

ok that is very possible. just remembering what i had read. perhaps there is a special gene that triggers splitting. some kept in high light low pressure situations may trigger that gene. hard to say. maybe there is some other genetical defect that caused two variations too. i guess every nem is different.

this is the variety that i may decide to try:

my H. Magnificas tentacles are 7+ inches in some spots.. in our local club the URS we have a tank at the zoo with a RBTA.. the tentacles are easily 10+ inches if not more, the anemone is about 20 inches across easily.. ill see if i can get ome pics up..

the other..

that pink birdnest you see in the background is absolutely ridiculous.. its the largest coral ive ever seen in a tank.. its probably 3ft tall by 3 ft wide.. it is huge..

There ya go Travis.

The Condy Anemones tentacles are thicker and stand up height wise while the BTA's go with the flow.

Travis, I would just get the BTA after you feel comfortable with anemones.

thats what i was thinking. i remember reading on karensroseanemones that e. crucifer can coexist with e. quadricolor so i should be alright with both.

yes, im going to test my anemone skills with the flower first since they are hardier and dont move as much. that will still give me some options for a reef or an anemone tank down the road as well.

Just reminding you that a BTA will outgrow your tank within a year probably. Also depends on how much you feed and how healthy it is.

if i do get a bta im going to find one from a local reefer that clones like clockwork so that it will split before it gets too big.
