ConeS CO-2 vs. EM300

I'm setting up a new system that will consist of a 180 gallon display, a 60 gallon look down frag display, and a 70 gallon sump.

I can't decide which skimmer to buy because I'm not sure which of these two would perform better.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

The co-2 wouldn't work for that ammount of water. I know what they're rated for but dont buy into that. You'll need a co-3 or a em 300. If you have the space in the sump go for the co-3. Non space saving designs are slightly better than the space savers. Slightly.

Thanks Drae. I was leaning toward the cone after reading several threads. I just wanted some reassurance.

You seem to have a lot if experience with skimmers and I appreciate the input.

My $.000000002 :)

From how these skimmers seems to be made (zero 1st hand experience, only looking at picks) and taking the skimmers dimensions into consideration..... I would skip to the em500 for your setup. Looks like pretty much you would have the equivalent of a 240g tank. The em300 is only 8in dia and having a internally mounted pump only a fraction of the body can actually do skimming..... The em500 does cost a bit more but you gain a much larger skimmer.... 10in dia

I would not do one of their cones on your size tank, their cones seem way to small

I also prefer over sizing my skimmers....... That way there is plenty of headroom incase is hues arise for some reason be it a dead fish or a die off of some type.
