Configuration of my new system

So, we're in the SLOW process of finishing a remodel of a house we're moving to. In the move I'll be upgrading from my 90 to a 265 or 280(to be determined upon pickup).

This thread will be a collection of my ideas and hopefully those of others to help form the final design.

It is going to be a mixed reef with flow generated mainly through an RW20 and an RW15. The overflow will be a Bean Animal coast to coast. The return pump is an Iwaki70 plumbed to either my Oceans Motions 4 way or overtop of the coast to coast overflow at each end with directional return nozzles. The lighting are the WiFi 165w black box LEDs. Nutrient export through a refugium in the sump and a Vertex IN180 skimmer.
The display tank will house approximately 200lbs of live rock. I plan on plumbing a carbon reactor and GFO reactor off of the return line with a third leg plumbed for later use. I will be dosing BRS 2 part through a Jebao dp-4.

So the first decision to make is how to drill the tank. I am currently thinking 3 holes near center for the siphon, open channel, and emergency. These are going to be for 1 inch bulkheads. And possibly a 1 inch bulkhead at each end for returns.

So the drilling questions are?

1) Will it hurt or help to make the emergency standpipe bulkhead a 1 1/2"

2) Pros and cons of drilled returns or over the top returns? If drilled what height?

The overflow questions are.

3) From reading it looks like the holes are centered at 4 1/2" down from the trim and the bottom of the overflow box is 6" down. If I go with the 1 1/2" emergency should those dimensions change?

4) Advantages and disadvantages of acrylic or glass for the over?

Then on to the sump questions.

5) Is it possible to run the siphon standpipe into the "main" chamber of the sump and the open channel into a separate chamber at the other end of the sump? Was going to run the siphon through socks (maybe), skimmer chamber, then to return chamber. The open channel was going to feed the refugium through socks (less likely) then to the shared return chamber.

6) Should all of the reactors and dosing feed into the return chamber?

7) If dosing vodka in the future where should it be introduced in relation to skimming and carbon?

Thanks for any input.

I plan on doing that exact thing with my drains = siphon dumps into area that overflows thru filters socks, then skimmer, then fuge. The open and emergency drains will drain into a different area. Well- this system is not built yet- but that is the plan.

You want the emergency to be able to handle the system - even with out a siphon- so I am using this : 1 inch siphon , 1 inch open, and 1.5 inch emergency.

I was actually thinking of putting the siphon through the socks and skimmer, and the open channel with less flow through the refugium at the other end of the sump. The 2 flows would come together in a center chamber to be returned to the display.

I'm still having the low flow high flow refugium argument in my head.

I'm leaning toward 1 inch bulkheads for the siphon and open chamber and 1 1/2 inch for the emergency. The standpipes were going to be 1 inch on the siphon and 1 1/2 on the open and the emergency. I figured that would channel a slightly increased amount down the open to supply the fuge.

???
