Conflicting advice on compatability

I've mostly read that keeping seahorses with a lawnmower blenny is fine. However one place I read that the blennies will pester the seahorses? Does anyone have any experience with this?

Any help appreciated.

A lawnmower blennie will pester a seahorse. I have read accounts where people thought the seahorse was ill until they realized that the lm blennie was picking at it. Algae grows on seahorses and the blennies will try to pick at it. I had also heard some conflicting info about putting bicolor blennies with horses. I had one in the tank for a few weeks and he was alright but he would occasionally pick at them if he was hungry so i decided to put him in a different tank. HTH

LMB can be a bit aggresive and based on my experience I will not be keeping them with seahorses again and did have to pull my LMB out of the Seahorse tank.

Blennies can be real pigs and would prob. be too aggressive at feeding time.

Have you thought about a sandsifting goby - they look very similar to blennies in body shape - come in a variety of colors and most (yellow sleeper/blue-cheek, and diamond goby that I know of) are peaceful

I have a pair of twin spot gobies in our 29G Seahorse tank. They have shown no aggression towards the horses...even the smaller H. erectus that we just introduced...

Hi LL,

I have read that twin spot gobies have a poor survival rate so have never kept them (they are beautiful fish) - how long have you had yours and how are they going? Do they eat frozen foods?

I have had them in the Bio-Cube since October 2007 and they are thriving...yes they will take frozen food, but with the food left on the sand after feeding the seahorses, they seem very content just rooting around the sandbed and covering my zoanthids...

I am going to move them over to a 95G in a few weeks and expect them to enjoy the additional space and food sources.

I kept my twinspots for three years before giving them to a freind when I moved out of state. They did fine for me as well.
