Confused: Questions on 6045 and 6055

I posted this in the general equipment forum and it was suggested I post my questions here:

I see that the newer 6045s have an adjustable flow rate (just a simple lever on the side of the pump) but I don't think this pump can be put on a timer or wave contoller. The 6055 I am pretty sure can be hooked to a controller but what I can't tell is whether the 6055's flow rate can be adjusted without a contoller (manually like the 6045).

I would like a 6055 but don't have the ability to get a controller at the same time and I feel the max rate on the 6055 would be too much for my little tank (40B).

Also, if I were to get a 6055 and a controller later can I use something like an Apex Jr. or a RKL to control it? Or do I need to use the Tunze single or multicontroller?

Can anyone help clear this up? Having a hard time confirming through my own research.

The 6055 without a controller can be set by voltage on the transformer, it includes 12.15, 18, 21 and 24V settings and 24V is about 1450gph, 12V is about 700, with a controller you can set 30-100% of each of these so the flow can be even lower but a 6055 at 12V is about equal to a 6025. Other aftermarket controller can run these pumps but you need to check with the manufacturer to see if they can connect and vary the flow. For a 40B, you would be fine, I used 2 of these on a 58 and it was just right.
