My local petco's marine section is TERRIBLE! Diseased(& highly priced) fish that are up for sale, as well as some funky looking overpriced live rock to boot. I took 1 look around & haven't been back, we're lucky to have the internet!(IMO)

And my two cents also...I will admit that I am also new to SW AND I have been reading on RC for over a month and I am happy to admit that I have even given a bit of novice advice a time or two!!

Again...as for the PETCO...[thumbs down]...find a decent "mom and pop" LFS and use that. IME the ENTIRE STORE at a petco is plumbed using a common water column and if fish "A" is sick in tank one then fish "Z" is sick in tank 26 at the other end of the store as well. The places I use all have isolated systems for each individual tank and it has always paid off. In addition, these types of places employ people that actually have marine/FW aquariums and can give you better advice than most.

Finally...again...read everything you see and browse around RC! TONS of valuable info!
