connecting controller via wifi/wirelessly

just bought a apex unit, and i believe i have a obstacle to tackle.

Question: can you connect the apex controller via wifi/wirelessly? if so what do i need to accomplish this?

reason being, in order to run a solid hardwire CAT5/ethernet cable from my wireless router that would require going through the ceiling and over into another wall. which can be done but will be a pain in the butt.

i know there have got to be some people out there who are connecting wirelessly so give me some help guys... please :)

Net gear wnce2001 seems to be the goto for WiFi on apex. It's about $50 in best buy stores but can probably find cheaper on ebay/internet. You running the new firmware and apexfusion yet? If not you will have to do some port forwarding and stuff but it's easier to just update the apex and then it's basically plug and play

For the initial setup and firmware update you will need to be hardwired i believe. Borrow a laptop or just run a cat5 across the floor to setup if you haven't already then either phone app, apex browse utility, or just type it's address in your Internet address bar

thanks man, i will be running Fusion. just do not have my controller programmed yet. so i knew i had to be directly connected to do that.

....
if im understanding what you are saying, i need to connect via cat5 for the initial setup. then this wnce2001 will let fusion communicate via web browser and wifi... did i get that right?

Yes that's it. I can access mine from anywhere in the world with my cellphone now and completey unhooked the monochromatic display...

For comparison sake, I use a airport express to connect to my apex wirelessly. My brother uses the netgear gaming adapter. Both work. However, his seems to be slower and a little more temperamental compared to my set up. Something to think about.

It's $99 for the airport express vs the $50 for the netgear gaming adapter. The express is Apples Basic router. No need to buy a Mac :)

Purchase a wireless extender and put it near the Apex controller. You can then plug the apex Ethernet cord into the extender. Netgear makes some decent ones. It will amp your existing wireless signal and you can plug in wherever you are keeping your Apex controller. Good Luck!

UPDATE - i ended up returning the WNCE2001 and running a deadicated eithernet line. the Wireless bridge just didnt seem to fully work for me. I had intermittent connectivity, not sure if it was how i configured it or the adapter its self. i bit off the bullet and got up in my 200 degree texas attic and got it done the right way.
