is there any reason i cant hook both of my fan power suppies to my vho ballist power supply?basicly i want to tie all 3 powers to one cord so my fans come on with the actinics.

You could overload the circuit or melt the cord, but I wouldn't think that the 2 fans draw that many amps. I used 12 volt and plugged the power supply into the same circuit as the lights, and then again look at the cord on the power strip.

I hope this helped, now I am going to have to re-look my wiring.:)

the fans draw like .23-.27 amps each.the cord would be a normal ballist cord you would get with the lights.i think its 10gauge wire but im not sure.

Your only concern is total amp draw, and you've explored that. So you're ok with the fans and lights. And it's such a great idea, I'm going to put it in my plan.
Thanks checkinhawk.

Chris,

I have two fans come on when my ice cap fires up. I hardwired them to my power cord that goes to the ballast. Just be sure you use the correct size electrical fitting.s In my case I used a water resistant wire nut for three #18 wires.

Good luck,
Chris
