Considering breaking my tank down ..

So frustrated right now! ... Had a hose bust off my return about an hour ago ... All I keep thinking is that life would be so much easier if I just broke the tank down .... I haven't enjoyed the tanks in months.... UGH! ... I hate the thought of not having my fish , some of which I have been with me for almost 3 yrs. now , but all I keep thinking is that if I didn't have the tank I would just be happier.... Maybe I am just in a foul mood right now but , that's just how I feel..... Sorry for the rant ...

life most certainly would be easier, but does easy make you Happy?

this definately can be a frustrating, painfull, and costly hobby.

you just have to calm down first and then decide whats best for you. to tell you the truth as much time as you spend out of town I dont know how you do it.

Hey guys ... Thanks for replying to my rant.... I was just at wits end ... The tank has been a source of some frustration here lately.. but couldn't imagine being without it ... I honestly have been and will continue to consider it , but I think at the end of the day Candace and I just love the Fish too much .... All of that said , had there been a "sell it now" button available , I woulda hit it with no hesitation .... The screwy thing is , that I could have prevented the accident if I would have done something I knew I should have done over a month ago ... I guess I just had to vent! =0)

my 2 cents......................

my 2 cents......................

get a bird............................................................lol see you sunday.

Current Tanks: 72 bowfront ,30 breeder w/ 20 long refug. ,30 cube , 2.5 nano , 2x 10 gal

Eric, maybe consolidating would ease your burden.

what about going FOWLER? much easier, just WC's needed, no additives, no worry about algae, simple lights. Wouldn't even need a sump really.

Yeah then I can "give you the bird":D see ya this weekend...

Josh , Yeah I am down to just 2 tanks now , the 72 and the cube ... The problem was with some plumbing that I slacked on ... I got sooooo frustrated last night when water was shooting out ...It just felt like life would be easier with out my little ocean constantly staring at me begging for time , attention and money. ..lol...I think things will be better here shortly , as we are moving into a place with more space so things won't be right on top of each other...

Todays lesson and the moral of the story.....
Never post when your angry kids!

I love my tanks and just had a bad night with em' ... I guess it is just a part of the hobby , inevitablly frustration creeps in ... but then sleep and then sanity :strooper: :D :D

Yeah we talked about that last night ... I think we have just been stressed with life and I got so frustrated that I jumped the gun a bit ... Probably shouldn't even have posted , but figured you guys would all understand .... I don't see me getting rid of anything ... Just making some changes .... Simplifying ya know ....

Well if you decideto get out then I'll take the 72 back. I'm itching for a bigger tank now. We are getting ready to move too so we'll see. There is something about the <55 gal though that seems to make my fish experiences more enjoyable. I remember when I had a 90, a 180 the 72 and a 60. I would spend saturday and sunday cleaning making water and all that fun stuff and I guess when your single and youg (well younger) you don't mind it, but when you throw kids and wife and home and other pets something has to give. There are so many hours in a day. Just my .02. You know I;m here for ya bro if you need any help. Here is what I would do..... (its ok to laugh now)

Combime the 72 and the (30ish). Take a bit of the rock out of the 72 to make it fit. Put your other MH over it (that should burn a bit of that algae off) Get you a simple fuge/sump going to knock out more nutrient and enjoy. I think after you move that you will be able to focus a bit more on it. A move or even getting ready for a move is super stressfull and very distracting. Again just my .02

Frogs :D

Getting them this weekend .... nice!

Just what I need another tank right ? lol

Man I hope things are working out for you. I feel your pain. My 75 gallon reef is doing great but on the other hand I have had nothing but trouble with my 300 gallon. I had something happens and three fish died. LI'm getting rid of the other two and starting over. gonna shut the thing down for a while and rethink the whole process. filtration, lights, temp. etc. I think once it is up and runnng I am going to just house small fish instead of big fish to make it more eye friendly. I think at the same time I am going to rebuild the stand and top to match and better air movement. Fish will be happier.

Yeah , things here are fine , I have just been a little frustrated , but all of the things frustrating me were mostly "operator error: lol ... I love my fish , I have a good group of happy healthy fish and as much as I think it would be easier , I just couldn't imagine not having them to look at... I used to have a lot more tanks and then we consolidated to the very minimum ... It has been a lot easier just not "easy" ... We are moving in the nex few months , so I plan on simplifying and I know that will make me happier....

I definetly think that smaller fish , i.e. community fish are more appealing .... and I have rushed through setting up tanks before because of one reason or another..someone has to get rid of a fish and I think I should keep it so I set up a tank etc..etc... I won't do it anymore ... It just leads to frustration ...anyhow ... Good luck with your setups and thanks for the comments and the well wishes.... It is nice to hear positive reinforcements from people who go through the same type of stuff....
