Considering getting a Squamosa

Looking into getting a squamosa, never had a clam before. I have a 150 watt 20K metal halide about 4 inches above the water (planned on placing the clam about 8-10 inches below the water) and 110w of PC (55 watts of 10k 55 wats of actinic). Also have various soft corals, two BTA's, a maroon clown, and a yellow head jawfish in a 40 gallon reef /w 15 gallon fuge. Is this sufficient lighting? I hear squamosa is easier to keep than others, thus making that specie smy primary choice. Should I go with another? Thanks.

if you have stable water conditions for at least 6 months, a year would be better, and your levels are where they need to be with Alk and Ca then i don't see a problem with the Squamosa at all, but keep in mind he'll outgrow your 40 in just a few yrs.

I agree....if you have stable CA/ALK (450ish/11-12.dkh) then you should be good to go. Keep salinity, temp, and PH as steady as possible too!

What K MH bulb should I purchase? I've read I should get a 10k, 14k, and 20k for keeping clams. Now I'm confused o.O
