Controller 7095 or 7096 ?

I have a 125g that I'm setting up. I had a question's on a thread I have about
buying a wavemaker system and thought I would look into Tunze's vs. the new Gyre, VorTech's and other higher cost systems.

One of the question's was to use the 7095 or 7096. A reefer said this below.

Quote-

"This was back in 2010 and the 7096 did not have "Interval 2" so the pumps did not do any type of chaotic flow changes like the 7095.

They may have updated the software by now but I'm not sure since I sold my 7096 in 2010.

You can post a question on the Tunze forum to see if anyone can compare the two".

I'm trying to but good used equipment, as the cost is very high for the top end company's new products. If I can not find what I need at a lower cost, I'm going to have to stay with Jebao, Koralia and the like....

What would you Tunze guys suggest for the controller, which pumps, how many, for my 125g mixed reef, and why ?

Thanks,
Kevin

Is this a 6ft long 125? How much will you focus on SPS vs LPS and softies? I would either use 2 6095 (MSRP is $235 each) or 2 6105 (MSRP is $285 each), it depends on the focus, more SPS go with the 6105's. The 7096 is nearly obsolete, the 7097 was supposed to be out last year but we have had several snags. The 7097 adds a lot more features but it was originally Bluetooth and then we learned Apple has a hefty license fee for Bluetooth on iOS, the whole point was to make it so a tablet or smart phone will interface with it and it adds more functions, graphic displays, etc. It is now WIFI but we have an issue that it disconnects and must be reconnected unless you can set a static IP for the device. It is getting closer but not ready yet. The 7097 will cost about the same as the 7096, roughly $180. The pumps will work without a controller so you could get just the pumps for now. FWIW, the 7096 did get an update, but only for Windows, so if you have a Mac, unless you have Windows on it, you won't be able to use the new features which include an Interval 2 mode.

Hi Roger,

Yes it's 6' long.

It will house mostly fish but will have LPS's, leathers, mushrooms etc,... but this tank will not have any SPS's, as we have another tanks just for SPS's.

The biggest problem is the high cost of the wave making system, so I'm looking into high quality & well cared for, used component's. I know that Tunze has the best built products, so I just need to find good deals on well cared for controller and pumps.

I do have a Notebook that I also use for a lighting system on my wife's tank, and is run with the Android software. It's not a Mac, so I should be ok with your system.

Sometime,.... I would like to find a good used Apex system, so if I do, I really won't need the Tunze controller, unless you feel yours would work out better ?

Do you have an idea on when the new 7097 will be out ?

Thanks,
Kevin

On the 7097, I have given up trying to guess a release date, it seems like everytime it is imminent we hit another stumbling block, but if I had to guess, based on the current state of things I would say June.

I would go with two 6095's.

Ok, I assume tw0 6095's ?

Which controller ?

What do you think about the quote from a member in my post below about the two controllers ?
