What kind of controller do most people use or recommend? I have been researching different ones, and can't come up with a good solution. Here are some that I have been looking at Neptune Aquacontroller 3, Neptune Aquacontroller jr, and Digital Aquatics ReefKeeper Lite Controller. Id appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

Boy, there was a heated debate on this just a while back. From all of the posts and comments, I think you should look at the Reefkeeper, Profilux and Aquatronica. The expense in the systems come via the powerbars. I run an Aquatronica and I like it. The profilux and Reefkeeper products both have the ability to control high end powerheads. I believe that aquatronica does also now.

Seems that the customer support for the reefkeeper was pretty darned good and its made here in the US. I'd give it a hard look.

I have never used anything but the Neptune Systems Aquacontrollers and they have always performed perfectly for me.

I have an Aquacontroller pro by Neptune and it is amazing. also have thier Lunar sim, the AquaSurf 2 DC8's and a DC4. I use aquanotes, thier software and the tank emails me when things are amiss. Sweet system.

Depends what you want to control & monitor. Having had both the RKE and the AC3 I like the AC3 better simply because it has internet connectivity out of the box, and for a few more reasons ;).

However if all you need is a light timer, temp controller (to deal with temp) and a pH monitor/controller, the ACJr or RKL would be a better bet.

If you want the ultimate in controllers.. well then you need to do more homework, as I'm only familiar with the DA and Neptune brands. Although Neptune is coming out with a modular controller similar to the RKE called the Apex.

+1 Aquatcontroller Pro3 here too. The Aquasurf is sweet. Makes big waves. :)

www.aquariumcontrollers.com for a comparison chart.

That's your best bet for researching right there. Unbiased and straight facts. Once you determine which of the controllers interest you, then you can look at posted opinions of them and check out their product websites to see package costs and upcoming features.

You would get a clearer answer if you asked Coke vs. Pepsi which one is better. You can't go wrong with either DA or AC.
