Controlling Zoa spread?

How do I control the spread of my zoas? I have one colony nearly taking over the entire large rock in the center of my tank. The problem is that this rock cannot be removed so my options are limited to things I can do in the tank. Can I just brush the zoas to close up, then "pluck" out the closed polyps I don't want? Or is it going to be more complicated than that? I need to prune a large amount back... maybe 33% of the colony.

Great.. Thanks for the link.

But to remove them (since I cant remove the mother colony on that rock from the tank) I can just tease up the edge of the zoa mat and just peel it back? Or is it too friable and it will break apart?

i will not break.. like a piece of glass or flake foor.. you can and want to avoid ripping it..

Use a razor blade and cut the mat.. where you want to frag.. then like you said get underneath it and start peeling it up. use the razor and kind of get the rock.. almost like your shaving the rock.

once you get ur section out cut the mat into the frags you want.. use super glue gell and glue them to anything you want.. discs, shells, rubble... etc.

just take your time and due dilagence will prevail :)
