I am going to take advice and gradually take out bioballs out of Amiracle 200 sump and make a refugium. I have about 3 inch of sand and 75 lbs of live rock in my 75 gallon. There is a white grate and black sponge where the water comes out of the wet/dry filter. I thought I could seal that up with acrylic to allow water to fill up, cut a whole towards the top, and put an elbow so it can drain in the sump.
I have my protein skimmer in the sump and also the pump sends water through a carbon filled cannister and then goes back to the aquarium.
Will the refugium "food" being devasted by the skimmer and/or carbon filter? Does this plan work? I am better off going with a CPR hang on refugium? I have no place under stand to add a refugium. Thoughts?
