converting pics ..help

i have nikon d40x, when i take a pic it saves it to .nef and i would like to convert it to .jpeg.

.nef is Nikons RAW format IIRC. You should be able to set the camera to record in JPEG ('you can with a Canon') - or use the RAW convertor that may have been supplied with the camera to make any tweaks and then save as JPEG.
