Converting this wet/dry to a sump

Ive read about converting wet/dry filters with bio balls to sumps but I see that all are different depending on how they are made. Here are some pics of mine. Can I change this to a sump? Looking to get this tank up and running toward the end of the week or maybe this weekend so I need to do any changes before getting it running.

Looks like there is room for a skimmer in there. My sump is a converted wetdry. I pulled all the bioballs, put in a skimmer added a bubble trap between the skimmer and return and its been working great

Yeah it came with a skimmer. The first pic is all the way on the right side and thats where she had the skimmer placed. The the second and third pic are the left side of the unit. So what do you put in the place that the bio balls are now?

I'd put a larger skimmer in there. The stock one likely isn't the greatest.

Yeah Ive been looking at them but the cost of getting this tank running is going WAAAAAY over what I thought. I will upgrade the skimmer but it will likely be a couple months.

Glue in some baffles now and upgrade/drop in a new skimmer later.
