Cool new Leptastrea

I was wandering the tanks of a local fish store out here in Lansing, and had a few bucks to burn (my paycheck, and tax refund checks posted on the same day). I was debating between a few diffrent things from acros to zoas (A-Z, haha, get it?) :p

Then I saw this thing. There was no price listed, but it looked like a $75 piece, so I almost passed it up. I, just out of curiosity, asked a friend of mine who works there how much it was, and he didnt know so he asked another employee. The other guy said that it came in as a hitch-hiker on a leather colony so I could have it for $25. I was shocked, and immediately said yes - without having an exact idea what it was. I knew it looked like a favia, but it looked different enough that it could have been something completely different. I posted abot it in a local forum and found that it was a Leptastrea, which is in the favia family apparently.

It's in my prop system right now, which is more or less a holding system to hold corals for me to bring home when I head home on the weekends from college.

I also recently picked up a Leptastrea while I was buying some live rock from someone who is getting out of the hobby. It's difinitely a nice coral - something different from zoos.

Nice find.

Nice color. I have one that started with blue centers (though not as blue as yours) and they have faded to brown. It may be the 250W DE's... Under 175W 10K's they held the color, though.

Nice find. It looks nice and healthy, too.

Thanks everyone! Right now it is under a 250W 10K "S.P.S" bulb which is more along the lines of 12-13K in my mind. Its going home this weekend to the 150 which has 400W 10K XMs so I'll definately be shading it for a while to acclimate it to the new lights.
