I was getting some random pics of my nudibranch when it turned and "looked" at me. Just thought it was a cool pic.

It is a cool photo. Just so you know, your slug isn't a nudibranch but an Elysia spp., probably E. crispata.

Interesting. I bought it from saltwaterfish.com as a lettuce nudibranch. How can you tell the difference between it and Tridachia crispata?

Tridachia crispata is a synonym of Elysia crispata. They're the same thing.

Elysia's point is that this is a sea slug, but it's not a nudibranch, despite the common name. People often call all sea slugs nudibranchs, which is incorrect. Nudibranchs are only the members of one order of sea slugs. All nudibranchs are sea slugs, but not all sea slugs are nudibranchs.

Even if you didn't know what this slug is, one giveaway that it's not a nudibranch is that it eats algae. All nudibranch are carnivores. If you have a slug that eats algae, it's not a nudibranch.

That was my point. Every"one" can be called a sea slug, but the trade seems to prefer to use the more specific term "nudibranch" on animals that do not fall within that specific group... Obviously, I like the "lettuces" (hence my username.)

Okay that pic of it looking at you has got to be one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time.

Hi there Greenbean!!
