Coolest new addition

Hi Charliegirl2u,

Please take this in a positive way and learn from the people on this Csea message board. I have watched a few of your posts & if I were you I would take a deep breath and take the advise I am about to give you. At one time we were all new to this hobby and most people read and asked advice before making a purchase(me included). By your posts you seem to lack a bit of experience on basic reef keeping. Before you buy another fish, coral or invert please ask the people on Reef Central if this is right for my tank. You just can't stick any kind of animal or fish in your tank and expect it to survive. You need to do some research before you buy your livestock to make sure it's compatable with your tank mates. The jelly fish thing is a good example. Kreeger1 is correct, that Jelly fish should not be in your tank. I would take a step back and re think your future purchases BEFORE you buy. Be a responsible reef keeper and think & plan out your tank and it's inhabitants.

I thought I was being responsible with checking to see what was reef compatible and what wasn't ... I didn't know they would post something that wasn't true

Ask the Reff Central Gods and ye shall Receive !!!!!

I feel like I just got ripped a new one, thanks for making me feel welcome on reef central and as though I can ask a stupid question before I make a mistake. I do believe that everyone starts out in this hobby not knowing much and it is all a learning experience, such is life we learn from our mistakes you shouldn't make me feel this bad for trusting a web site. Why does it feel like you guys are all over me for this?

Were trying to help you. A bad purchase is one thing, wipping out your tank because you didn't know is another. Now you know :) and you can save your tank from a wipe out.
Not trying to burst your bubble, but you can clearly see in your video that it doesn't belong.
Just ask away for a bit on the boards, everyone here will lead you in the right direction for your tanks.
We were all newbies once and we all can still learn from others too.

What Erik Said like i said earlier in the thread i dont want to see the why did everything in my tank die thread those are expensive mistakes!!! If you eveer have a prob holler at me im on the eastside i can help or at least helpfind answer !!!!!

Keep on Reefin !!!
Sean

They lie.

No jelly fish will live without the right tank. It will be dead within a week if it last that long. It already got sucked in once, and it either was stung by your frog spawn or it stung your frog spawn.
Trust us, they sold you something they should have not.

Charlie,
Please believe they are not trying to pick on you...just help. I saw that website as well and new it was true good to be true because of all I have learned here. If you leave it in your tank, it'll surely get sucked into a powerhead and die. The diaster that, that can create in a reef, is certainly something you do not want. Everyone is trying to help you avoid wiping out your reef. I know these guys enjoy the hobby and want you to be able to enjoy as well.

We have all been there. Don't take it personal, its a learning curve. I think everyone is trying to impress the urgency and importance that adding the wrong thing can really have bad consequences.

No one is trying to condemn simply help... If everyone just sat idle and did not say anything then when diaster does strike you may think why didn't these people tell me that...

We all invest alot of time and money into our tanks and we do not want to see someone new to the hobby make a mistake that costs them alot of that time and money and then causes so much frustration that they decide this is simply too hard to do.

With a little bit of research and understanding before buying we make sure we buy the right animal for our tank...

Simple lesson... research or ask on RC before you buy... that way you won't be tempted to get that Naso Tang with Streamers and put it in your 55 gallon tank or be tempted to buy that cool looking eel and put it into your tank and then wonder where did all my other fish go.

It does look neat in the tank and jelly tanks are very cool. I would love to try one myself... Maybe you could find someone on RC that has a jelly tank that could take it off your hands and give it the proper environment to live. Just a thought.

Greg over at aquatic tec has some of those things. Might be able to get him to take it. There not in a jelly tank though, and most of the time I see them they are just sitting upside down on the bottom of the tank. I've done some research myself on these and once they reach the stage where they decide to go to the bottom, they are pretty much cared for like an anemone.

We had a jelly for quite a while in a cylinder shaped tank, no powerhead, we had plumbed into the 75 we had at the time, and made sure to cover inlet/outlets with old nylons. Used sand for the bottom, and the itty bitty light that came with it. It did okay. Looking back with what I know now, I would have made my own krisel, but the cylinder tank wasn't that bad. Water changes were really hard though, and sadly even with being really careful one of them did the little bugger in when scott accidentally looked away long enough to sneeze. To do it again, we probably would transfer water the really long way with cups or a small bucket.

Not sure what species exactly you have, ours was a mangrove jellyfish(not the upsidown variety commonly found in the stores), and we do still keep our eye out to replace it, but I'm glad that I know what I know now.

Jelliquarium is a great site for research, but I don't know that I would recommend buying any of their tanks, you can make them for like 1/20 the price.

If you go to seahorse.org, you can usually find plans for building a krisel tank, as that is what you use to raise certain species of seahorses.

Good luck, and hope your jelly does well

I think everyone is trying to look out 4 you!!!They dont want u lose anything because the web site lied. These are all good people tring help.Dont get upset!

It is still alive and the rip is almost healed on it, it stays on the bottom all the time mostly behind the rocks, it has only come out to swim twice that I've seen.
