hello,
I am new here and to marine fish but not to aquariums.
I recently move to japan.
I have low space so i will build a nano tank. tank is 30 * 30 * 50 cm
approx 46L
I will have 1 cm of sand at bottom live rock 2 small clown fish. a shrimp of some sort (not decided yet) and prob 1 button polyp and or something easy to host clown fish in.
That is it not a fish more or less.
The issue is that this place is poorly insulated place and i do not use AC so the big tropical tank i have gets 32 degrees cecius in summer no cooling fan but the shrimp i have love it and still breed and my fish (tetras mostly) are okay too.
but of course in marine this is big no no.
first off i will use this filter sorry in japanese it comes with a basic skimmer attached.
http://item.rakuten.co.jp/chanet/85541/ i have extension tube to make sure flow is good.
but since it is side filter not outside cable i am thinking up a way to cool in summer.
i have looked at http://www.adafruit.com/products/1335
I was thinking of mounting this to the filter (externally). to cool the filter tank before flowing back into the tank. of course i will adjust power to make sure i get the right balance.
Anyone think this is a bad idea? it shouldn`t damage the plastic right?
but the cool should pass easily through to the water.
clearly the temp in the video on link is way too cold. but if reduced power it could be adjusted to a good temp.
All i need to do is work on a thermostat to stop if getting too cold and wire it all up.
let me know and i hope this gives people idea for chiller diy.
thanks
