Cooling fan for BioCube (or other hooded tanks)

Hi all, sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't quite find the answer.

I have the BioCube32 and of course it has a hood. I am wondering if there is any type of fan out there that I can install inside the hood to help keep the temps cooler in my tank. it's already pushing 80 and we are only in the 90s here in Phx. It will soon be 115 outside. I do try and keep the air at 76 in my house.

Had this in my 32, stock replacement size, and waaaay quieter. Like 10 bucks on amazon.

So do you actually replace the existing fan and this one is quieter and also keeps it cooler? I'm confused.

As far as cooling that fan does little to cool the tank. I keep the feed door open and the AC at 75, I'm in South GA. Tank doesn't get over 80.5.

I'm assuming the BioCubes have two fans right? Try to have one blow in while the other one blows out.

Just one fan... there is a spot for a second fan in the hood, just not sure how you'd wire it up.

Hmmm yeah, I don't think a fan or two in the hood will make much of a difference in lowering your water's temperature. If I remember from your build thread you haven't swapped out the stock LEDs so hood temps shouldn't be that bad.

So it's either leaving the feeding door open, figuring out how to exhaust that air between the splash guard and tank water or a chiller.

Yeah, I agree...I like the idea of leaving the feeding door open during the day and running the ac at about 76...that should do the trick hopefully.

That's what I do and in the summer when it's hot here I will run the ceiling fan as well.

When I had my biocube(29 not the new 32 so I'm not sure if they are the same) I removed the rear door and wired up 2 60mm fans to some egg crate(light diffuser) and zip tied it where the rear door was. I could lower my temps by as much as 10 degrees, and still open the rear door(now egg crate).

My old build thread has the mod.

FYI the fans in the hood only keep the lights cool. The cover over the lights block any air flow that you might get from those fans. This is why one fan blows in, and one blows out.
