copepods for sale

I have started to culture copepods, and have more than I currently need. I am willing to sell bottles at the meeting with a LOT more copepods than people are paying $20-$30 for online plus shipping.

They will be separated from the culture water, and bottled with fresh saltwater ready to add to your tank.

$15 per bottle.
The process of separating them from the culture water is time consuming, and feeding them, buying the starter, setting up the tank has not been cheap. Not to mention my time spent. I'm not trying to be rude in anyway, but I'm the type that always feels guilty asking for cash for anything. I think several members can vouch that I would rather give away frags ,and such rather than ask for anything. I'm more looking to cover the cost/time I have directly invested here, and not cash in on anyone. I would also consider trades for frags of just about anything that my son, or I may not have.

Hi Scott, I will take a bottle at the Christmas party next Friday. I would like to give my fry something bigger than the bbs, that will be the right size to mix chopped frozen mysis with.

I just wanted to let you guys know that I got a bottle of these a couple weeks ago and they have been growing like crazy. There were probably close to 2,000 pods in the original bottle and now they are all over the glass in the main tank and fuge.
I have been feeding a little bit of phytoplankton every couple days. They seem to be multiplying pretty easily. I am glad that I got these pods locally since they didn't have to go through the whole shipping process like the ones on ebay do. They were swimming all over in the bottle.
If you have a mandarin or seahorses it will pay off to get these to jump start your pod population. Good stuff.

Glad they are doing well for you Kevin.

Depending on the article you read these will help your tanks in many ways. I've seen articles claiming they will feed some corals, almost any fish as well as clean your tank of leftover food, and detrius/waste.

I know I've seen several of my sons fish picking them of the glass, and rocks.

I'm going to try to. If not I will have plenty by the time the next meeting rolls around. Looking into the tank I would guess I have over a million, but it's really hard to guess until I start to bottle them up.

Scott, do you have a pic you can post of the cultering container? I'll like talking to you and hearing how you've done it, I have been completely unsuccessful with mine. 1 million, WOW!

Container is very simple. It's just a glass tank with an acyrlic lid I made. It has a piece of ridgid airline tubing in each back corner with air slowly bubling from it.

I've heard from several people that most online sources are somehow selling sterile pods. Maybe that is the problem you have had in the past?

Not much else to tell, but I'm willing to help anyone setup if they want.

I think after I sell off this batch I'm going to a smaller tank. I can't afford $80-$100 worth of food a month for pods. It's way more than I will need anyways.

I really need to start growing my own phytoplankton. The pods would be VERY cheap to grow if you wanted to devote the time to phyto also.Would others be interested in buying starter cultures, and F2 to grow it from someplace like florida aqua farms?

I'm not sure if you're still taking a count on how many bottles to bring, but I am looking to get a mandarin this weekend, and wouldn't mind bulking up my tank's pod population (as well as helping a fellow reefer out). I also wouldn't mind helping to support a phytoplankton production center either if you decide to do that....I just don't have the time with managing two 2-year old boys...they'll be coming to watch the shark feeding as well if they last that long!
