copper in display tank

Had a bad Marine Velvet outbreak in a display tank which killed about 80% of my fish so started dosing copper right into the display as it is a fish only display anyway so thought why not dose it straight into the display to treat fish still alive and eradicate the sure parasites in the system in one time....
Now I want to keep a 0.5ppm dose (cupramine) into the display for as long as I can as I am wondering could I keep this therapeutic level well after the so called 20-30 day cycle period to make sure any other new fish added goes through a copper treatment until tank is fully stocked again and then to slowly start removing the copper out of the entire system....
if possible all new fish added could go through a slow drip insert into the display....or would this be too simple of a thought process??
