i accidentally dumped petstore water in my tank and even topped off with tap water before i knew about the dangers of copper. have i doomed my tank already?? im gonna get a test kit today but im gonna asume there will be copper present. i have hermit crabs and snails and a clown fish. is there a way to strip the copper from the water? thanks for any help

Well first things first. how do you animals look inside the tank?
Happy and eating? Plenty of normal movement and normal breathing?

Do not over react and make more adjustments on the fly without thinking
things through. Often that just makes things worse.

I highly doubt you have a major issue so just take it slow and get a test kit
if you have a major concern.

its a very young tank, however everyone seems happy, crabs and snails still eating and moving around. someone told me about a filter media that changes color to show what its filtering out, said try that and together with my carbon bags should keep everything under control. thanks for the reply!

Did you know that the stores water had copper in it or just think it did? what size tank do you have?

just assumed because surely most places have copper pipe as does my house. just wasnt sure if significant amounts were shed into passing water. guess not thankfully
