It depends on if the copper you are using is complexed or not. For most medications available currently, concentrations of 0.25 mg/L or greater are considered unsafe. The copper medication that I use, Cupramine, 0.50 mg/L is the therapeutic level and according to the Seachem website Cupramine does not become toxic, in marine aquariums at least, until the concentration exceeds 0.80 mg/L.
