How long should i keep the fish in a copper treatment if ick is observed while in a QT tank? also can mandrins survive a copper treatment?

I do it for atleast 2 weeks and yes, I have kept mandarin in copper.

Depends on what type of copper you are using.....And no mandarines should not be put in QT. I would avoid getting one just because you really can't QT them.

I take a prophylactic approach and treat for about 4 weeks given the length of the lifcycle. In regards to the mandarin, chelated copper is a better bet since it's a little easier on the fish, however QT'ing a mandarin in itself is difficult - mostly from a feeding standpoint.
