Hi guys, So I have a new tang in quarantine from live aquaria and he has ich. I am going to start treating him with Cupramine today, I bought a API test kit to check copper levels, I know i need to be 0.5 mg my math skills suck, my question is the test kit doesnt show 0.5 it only has 0, 0.25, 0.50 1.0 and so on is 0.5 and 0.50 the same? Guess i should have paid more attention in math class....:eek1:

You cannot use the API test kit for cupramine. You have to use either Salifert or Seachem's own kit. Salifert is easier to read so that's what I would recommend.

0.5 is the same as 0.50, or 0.50000. The extra zeros are there for significant digit purposes, but they are all 0.5.

how can a copper test kit not work to detect copper on some products and not on others just because its a differant brand LOL copper is copper

API's copper product ( copper power?) And coppersafe are chealated, effective at high consontrations, 1.5 . Cupramine is an ionic effective at .35 . API test kit goes up to 2.0 , whereas seachem and salifert only go up to 1.0. Answer to your comment is no copper is not copper and test kits are not test kits.
