Question about fish that have been treated at the LFS with copper....will any residue/leftover copper be on the fish and should it be a factor when deciding if I should get a fish treated with copper for my reef???

If it is a factor : is there a way to "clean" the fish of copper???

I've purchased copper treated fish and put them in my reef with no ill effects other than the fish not being super healthy to begin with. but the reef itself was ok.

I dripped tank water into a container with the fish in it and made sure the net was not holding onto *any* water, just the fish out of water for maybe 5-10 seconds?

Maybe someone else has a better method?

Just do a good acclimation and don't put the water from the store in your tank, but you shouldn't do that even if there is not copper. You'll be fine.

So, whatcha gettin?

actually already got it today....a banana wrasse...some folks say (always like to preface it like that) that they will eat the small stars I have all over...but looks like the neon dottyback is bothering him/her already...swam with the rest of the fish for about 2 min then dove into the sandbed....we will see....thanks for all the replies...

That's a yellow coris wrasse? Mine did the same thing when I first got it. I wasn't expecting it, didn't know where the h3ll it went.

Some of the wrasses I have had do that in the beginning. I think it's often best to introduce them right before lights out.

yes it is the yellow coris wrasse not a banana wrasse as the LFS said...ohh well....guess another lesson learned...actually bought it at almost 7 pm so got home about 7:30...lights off at 8 so yes..was close to lights out anyhow...hope he comes out...was a nice addition to the other group of fish

I love wrasses, but there are so many that are close that it's easy to incorrectly identify them. I bought a Xmas wrasse that turned out to be an Ornate wrasse.

Good luck with him Roy
