copper vrs inverts

a fellow reefer gave me ~65 lbs of used lr. the rock is nice and was used b4 to be sure that no copper was used i was wondering if there is a reliable test. from what ive read there is no way to detect if it was used and is waiting to be leached out. i have 100s of micro brittle stars i figure 1 or two would make good canaries? anyone got another suggestion. if i went through with the canary plan how long would it take for me to see results one way or another?

I assume you're storing/curing it in a seperate container now? Test the water for copper or take it in to be tested. While you're there pick up some polyfilter. Use it on a HOB filter or wrap it around a power head intake. If it turns green it's absorbing copper.
