I love these fish, but know they are difficult to keep because of their diet. I know that more people are able to keep them now a days them before, but I was wondering how long.
Anybody with a Copperband Butterfly..
How long have you had them, and what are you feeding them?

Mine is coming up on 4 years old and shows no signs of slowing down. I bought it at 3" and it's now about 5". Mine is particular to scallops and clams, any form of shrimp (both live and frozen) and even goes head to head with the Achilles for nori. The trick IMO is making sure that they are introduced into a tank as early as possible; preferably before any other aggressive fish (i.e., angels, other larger BF's etc.).

I bought my last one at around 4". He was the only one at the LFS that ate out of the 8 - 10 they had. Very important to get one that eats to start. I wouldn't even buy one that doesn't eat. They offered them live blackworms.

I had him for almost a year. I decided to get a clam and he occationally nipped at it, so I pulled him out and sold him. I fed him frozen mysis and live blackworms. I would feed him the live blackworms from my fingers almost every night.

The previous two I had ate well, but only lived about 6 months. I only fed them mysis and brine. I believe that live bloodworms really helps in keeping these guys. JMO. Hope this helps.

Had mine for about 2 months. Initially did not eat for 1 week. Than started picking at amphipods. Now is accepting mysis, brine, clam, any thing meaty. I saw him pick at NLS pellets as well.

I got one ~4 months ago. He ate mysis from the first day. Was always healthy and last week, disappeared. Haven't found the carcass yet, the pistol probably got it. I'm guessing what people say about CBB suddenly dying without warning may be true.
