Copperband Butterfly

If anyone has a good copperband butterfly they would like to get rid of, please let me know. I can't ever seem to get to the stores before they sell out of them. The closest one that I can find today is about 2 hours away. Thanks.

No, they just got fish in last night, and they didn't get one. I'm in need of something to get rid of aiptasha. I had my mom go get one in louisville for me, and met her half way. Mitch was actually just over here looking at my tank the other day.

Peppermint shrimp have allways worked well for me. Cheaper and most of them don't end up dieing like copperbands. IME it's really hard to find a healthy CBB that will eat and thrive in an aquarium.
FWIW, Chris

I would have to agree with Chris on this. My Peppermint Shrimp wouldn't touch the stuffs before and I was treating it with Joe's Juice, but I did find some more later, but they all disappeared. I guess the Shrimp decided he wants to eat'em. :)

I was going to do Peppermint shrimp, and I did buy one and put him in, but I think something ate him before he could do any work on the Aiptaisha. He was a bit small. Fishey Business didn't even get any peppermint shrimp in either. Guess I'll just have to wait....and keep my fingers crossed on the butterfly

saltwaterfish.com is selling groups of 5 peppermint shrimp for around $18 (I know they are on sale and I don't know how much they normally go for), which is a really good price (about $10/shrimp everywhere I've seen). In the past I had bad luck with peppermint shrimp when I've put them in alone (2 inexplicable deaths/disappearences in a rather short time), but I noticed the price as I was setting up an order at the site and thought I would give them one last try. The 5 shrimp, which range from small to large compared to the average that I have seen in LFSs, all hang out together and seem to be doing quite well. I heard before that they do better in groups and my experience seems to confirm that. I know that saltwaterfish.com has a minimum order price, so it might not be feasible, but I just thought I'd let you know and give you my experience with peppermint shrimp.

Thanks. They price there is now 17.49 for 5. The only thing is you do have to have 79 dollars for a minimun order, and on top of that, they charge $9.99 processing fee, and then $5.99 for a fuel surcharge. So the 5 shrimp become $33.74 just by adding them to the cart. haha. And still you can have them shipping cause its a minimun of 79 dollars. Just my luck. haha. I know that Aquatic Critter had them for 4.99 each, which isn't bad. I guess I need to schedule a "business trip" to Nashville again.

Don't give up on him yet. Try looking in the rockwork at night with a flashlight. In my main tank with large fish mine stay hidden allmost all the time and only come out at night.

Yeah, I did, but since I have put him in, I have switched from my 55G to my 76G Half Circle, and he hasn't been seen. The aiptaisha is everywhere now. I need to do something fast. I do have a copperband butterfly now, but I haven't seen him eating any of it yet. Guess he's either not going to, or still getting used to the tank. I just got him yesterday, so he may just not be comfy yet.

$4.99??? I bought'em there for $9.99/ea.

Mikeyjer I feel ya...

As far as the website, yeah, you need to have a minimum order and they hit you for processing and a fuel charge, but shipping is free once you get past the minimum order. So, if you're buying something expensive, or a bunch of little things, its a damn good deal. Even with the processing charges (33.74 as btkrausen says) that's cheaper than $10/shrimp most other places.

I've bought stuffs from saltwaterfish.com before. Great stuffs!!! The shrimp at the Critters were $9.99/ea. though....

As for prices on peppermint shrimp, have you looked into Reeftopia.com I think they have them for $4.00 per. Free shipping on orders over $120 (still hit you with box and fuel charge though).
