Copperband Butterflyfish

On liveaquaria.com is says the Copperband Butterflyfish is peaceful but add with caution to a reef tank. I am slowly working towards a reef tank, and was wondering if anyone has had experience with this fish.

Also wondering about introduction times, if the fish is compatible.

thanks

you always roll the dice with fish that could be harmfull to your reef tank. But, im a risky guy, and happen to love the copperband. My copperband has been a model citizen, and i feel lucky. On the good side, mine takes out any aptasia that i had, and all the feather dusters with it, on the bad side.. well so far there hasnt been one. Im not a duster fan.

Exactly the same here.
Model citizen for sure.
You have to give this guy Mysis on a daily basis, as it is the only thing they eat.
Be sure you have the right enviroment and you will be ok to feed this way 365 days a year.

Good look.

i got a mulleri from liveaquaria, the first CBB i've had that survived and a great fish. i haven't seen aiptasia since he moved into the display. you have to get them eating, i've seen sacrificial brain coral do the job. no softies with this fish.

i feed frozen food, mysis + something else daily, the mulleri's fat and happy. i also keep a sponge in the sump and once a week maybe will stick it into a quart container of mix water. after about ten minutes the container is crawling with pods, i dump that in the display and it's been keeping the population up and the CBB happy.

Copperbands can be extremely difficult fish to keep long term. A small percentage will eat in captivity, but most will starve to death. I am 0/2 so far in trying to keep one. :(

Love Mine too.... My CBB took out all aptasia, and quickly. The trick is getting them to eat mysis. If they take to mysis, then you can feed them everyday, and lots of it.... Even full, my CBB still circles the reef looking for any natural food possible, even if it means him getting stuck underneath a rock.... You could literally feed these fish 2-3 times per day, and they would still be hungry. I like to take every measure possible to keep my CBB fat and happy. JME.....
