Coral and skimmer question

I am having a discussion with a friend and I'm am really not sure about this so here is the question.

If you have a coral only tank with the exception of a kole Tang to keep the micro down, do you need a skimmer? It is a 100 gallon display with cheato in a 100 gallon sump. I think not because the amount of waste is small with most of the waste being carbon dioxide. The corals are mostly SPS. Any thoughts pro or con?

well iv noticed this tends to be a debated topic, some will say yes others will say no, personally i would run one, but thats just me, at the end of the day youll just have to decide for your self

so your both right

I'm sure he does a lot of coral feeding, so I would run one... On a tank that size I think it's nice to just have that exta insurance. He probably doesn't do frequent water changes does he? On smaller tanks I think it's easier to go skimmerless because one is more likely to do frequent water changes because they're relatively easy and don't run you to much money.
