Anyone out there able to keep coral banded shrimp. I myself have not been able to. Everyone i talk to Seems to have the same problem as me. just wondering if there is anyone that has actually been able to keep them alive

I had one for 5 years when it passed and currently another for close to 2 years. As shrimp go , they are one of the hardier varieties. IMO

Well i am happy to read that some people can keep them alive out of our little group of 7 people all keeping tank none of us can keep them alive.

I've had a mated pair for 7 years. The previous pair even longer. They are best as pairs but have to be collected that way, otherwise they will not tolerate another CBS. They are tough and extremely interesting. They are primarily nocturnal, but are also active during the day. They require a cave or large overhang to do well long term, and will die almost instantly if exposed to any copper. Reasonable calcium and trace element levels provided by regular water changes, and a varied diet are essential. How much research have you and your friends done? Real information gathering, not a few paragraphs of superficial internet site stuff. Consulting a book or two or three is practically an ethical requirement before you try keeping anything.

What else do you have for livestock and what are your water parameters ? I have heard that saltwater crustaceans need Iodine along other things to molt. If they can't molt they are likely to die. You might want to increase the frequency of your waterchanges.
Plus feed them well

I have had one for two years. In addition to broadcast feeding of the tank ,the banded and any other large shrimp get a piece of silverside once a week.
