ive seen them be total coral terrors and others that would not even look at any coral?you just have to watch them closely or buy one that is living in a tank with corals to be safe. sorry for the quick reply but i am on my way out the door!

I've gone through 3 coral beauties. All 3 left the corals alone, but didn't survive for other reasons.

They are so pretty and are worth checking out.

My cb doesn't touch my coral nor did it touch my hair algae.. The only way I got rid of hair algae was to scrape it off the rocks, and then I started using AZ-NO3 AND STARTING KEEPING PHOS-LOCK IN MY CANISTER. That was nearly six months ago and so far no signs of hair algae. GOOD LUCK

if your worried about hair algea i say fox face all the way!! mine dont let any kind of algea in the tank. if its green the the fox face will take it out. coral beauties are nice though!! but if the only reason you want one is algea i would go with the foxface.....just my 2 cents.

i think so. when they stress they flick their fins to scare preditors off, they have venom in their fins too. i dont think a damsel will get close to one. I have 2 tangs that are 6+ inches that stay away from mine, its about 3 inches long. They didnt really impress me in the store but when i got mine home i fell in love with it. i dont think i will ever own an aquarium without one.

ARE they cold water fish or really pretty hearty... my tank is cold, about a steady 74..is that to cold for him>?.. i dont wanna lose another fish..

ohhh, i have no idea! i keep my temp 78ish. im not sure on the exacts on him are but i know he is ideal for my set up. im sure there are other people that have them and can give you better advice than me. I do know that they eat more algea than my tangs. they will eat cheato, hallimeda, and anything else that is green in your tank and wipe it out quick. i think that they are hardy, i have heard that they dont get ick like most other fish.

FYI...a LFS store (not sure of the rules on this) that I was in yesterday had a foxface in almost everyone of their tanks...if you are interested. I made a crack about they should have a special on them..since there were so many.

I have no experience with the foxface. Although, I hear good things about them. Coral Beauties are great fish. Mine never nipped at corals. He was the perfect fish. However, for Hair Algae I found the algae blenny to work as well as a Scopas Tang.
