Coral Beauty and stringy poop

"stringy poop" or more technically "trailing fecal cast" is a common sign of a gastrointestinal parasite infection. I would remove the specimen to a quarantine tank and treat with antihelminthic and/or antiprotozooal medication, preferably in the food for the greatest efficacy.

Should all fishes in the tank be treated for this. I will wait for reply and the do it right away thanks.

No all fish have been in there for 6 months. I started to notice this after I started feeding nori and red sea weed.

Hi Dave,

A lot of fish can have worms, in reality most of them do and they probably have had them since you purchased them.

Worms left untreated can affect your fishes health overall and could actually shorten/kill then early then need be in the long run if the population is so great it infects organs such as the liver.

The good thing about it is, considering you have a fish that will eat flakes there are products, Jungle brand, Hikari prazi-pro esc.. that can be easily administed which conatin deworming medication.

Good luck,

The other good thing is its realtivly inexpensive to treat these guys. You might have to intice them to eat hte new food becuase it might smell different but then you only have to feed it for a short time. I belive the Jungle brand is 3 days with continous feeding only of that food.
